I was born in Terni where I lived with my family until I took the scientific high school degree in 2008, then I moved to Pisa to attend University. I took the Bachelor’s degree in General Physics and then the Master’s degree in Physics during which I focused my studies particularly on the field of the physics of matter, condensed matter and atomic physics, laser physics and quantum optics. During my master’s thesis I studied experimentally the mechanical effects of the Van der Waals force on a cluster of highly excited Rubidium atoms prepared in a magneto optical trap. After the degree, I did a placement at the CNR-INO in Pisa where I contributed to the assembling of a new experiment which aims to study atomic condensates of Dysprosium atoms. My research interest is primarily focused on the study of ultracold atomic systems with long range interactions, with applications to quantum simulation. |

Sono nato nell'agosto del 1991 a Bagno a Ripoli, in provincia di Firenze. Dopo aver conseguito nel 2010 il diploma di maturità al liceo scientifico tecnologico di Poggibonsi (Siena) con la votazione di 100/100, ho intrapreso il corso di laurea in fisica triennale presso l'Università di Pisa. Nel luglio del 2013 mi sono laureato con 110 e lode con una discussione sulle prime evidenze della possibile esistenza di materia oscura nelle galassie. A settembre dello stesso anno mi sono iscritto al corso di laurea magistrale, con un curriculum focalizzato sulla fisica astroparticellare, concluso nell'ottobre del 2015 con la votazione di 110 e lode. La tesi di laurea riguardava la ricerca delle anisotropie nella direzione di arrivo di elettroni e positroni dei raggi cosmici con il Large Area Telescope di Fermi. Durante il periodo di tesi ho lavorato all'interno del gruppo Fermi presso la sezione INFN di Pisa e sono stato Summer Student a SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, negli Stati Uniti, grazie ad una borsa di studio finanziata da ISSNAF-CAIF-ASI. Al di là degli studi sono un appassionato di elettronica e informatica, partecipo come astrofilo alle attività dell'Osservatorio Polifunzionale del Chianti e mi interesso di divulgazione scientifica. |

I was born in Bursa/Turkey, 1990. I have studied for my undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign, USA majoring in Physics along with a minor in mathematics between 2009-13. As an undergraduate research project, I have worked with Prof. Steven Errede on the 4-vector decay kinematics of the TTbar dilepton decay. By 09/14, I have received my MSc degree in Physics from Imperial College London, UK. For my thesis, I have worked with Dr. Henrique Araujo on the possibility of a directional kinematics analysis on WIMP detection within liquid noble gas detectors in volumes foreseen for the future generation of the dark matter search. My research interests however focus on theoretical high energy physics, specifically on the foundations of quantum theory, formal aspects of QFT’s and their interface with gravity. |

Sono nato a Jesi (Ancona) nell'ottobre del 1991. Nel 2010 ho conseguito il diploma di maturità presso il liceo scientifico tecnologico Leonardo da Vinci di Jesi. Ho proseguito i miei studi presso l'Università degli Studi di Camerino (Macerata), dove ho conseguito il titolo triennale in Fisica nel 2013 ed il titolo magistrale in Physics nel 2015. Il mio lavoro di tesi magistrale riguarda la meccanica statistica di non equilibrio ed è centrato nella modellizzazione del moto Browniano attivo di dispositivi artificiali, introducendomi al campo delle nanotecnologie. Nel tempo libero mi piace leggere e guardare film, ma non disprezzo neanche lo sport, in particolare il calcio e il tennis. |

Ho conseguito entrambi i titoli di laurea in Fisica presso l'Università degli studi di Pisa (Laurea Triennale nell'Ottobre 2012 e Laurea Magistrale nell'Ottobre 2014). Attualmente sono interessato alla materia condensata, più precisamente alla fisica dei sistemi di atomi "freddi". Questo interesse è nato durante il periodo in cui ho lavorato alla tesi magistrale sotto la supervisione del Professore Ettore Vicari: lo scopo del lavoro di tesi è stato quello di mostrare l'esistenza di una corrispondenza fra un sistema di fermioni intergagenti su reticolo in regime di basse densità e un sistema di fermioni nello spazio continuo (Modello di Hubbard e Modello di Gaudin-Yang). Hobby: suonare la chitarra e cucinare. |

I am from Parabita, a small city near Gallipoli, in the South of Italy. I studied in Pisa, where I live and work. My bachelor degree topic was the random walk of low energy particles into the Solar Wind. I passed to medical physics for my master theses, for which I studied a way to perform the calculation of the linear-quadratic model alpha parameter in liver treatment with 90Y microspheres. I am a fan of green technologies and I practice a lot of sports, in particular run, ski, mountainbike and Go, a board game lately well known thanks to AlphaGo, the first program able to beat the human mind, from Google. |

I am born in Milano on May 1989. In 2000 I moved to Porto Azzurro (Isola d'Elba) and I graduated at liceo scientifico R. Foresi, Portoferraio. I studied at Pisa University and I obtained my MSc degree in December 2014 with the thesis "Nonlocal theories of quantum gravity and gauge fields" under the supervision of prof. Damiano Anselmi, final grade 110/110. In the thesis I carried out a research on a class of nonlocal quantum gravity theories, studing their renormalizability and unitarity. This work gave me the opportunity to touch with hand the fundamental issues of the quantization of gravity and to get a complete and clear understanding of the domain of quantum field theories. In 2013 I applied for the Erasmus program and I spent one semester in Munich at Ludwig-Maximilians Universitat. There, I had an experience as teaching assistant in the course "Instantons and black holes" held by prof. Peter Mayr. In May 2015 I spent one month at Fudan University (Shanghai) as visitor in the quantum gravity group lead by prof. Leonardo Modesto. My research interests are related to classical/quantum gravity and formal aspects of quantum field theories. I am a cheerful and confident person and I can easily establish a professional and friendly relationship with people. I can travel worldwide, adapting myself to the new environment and appreciating everything it can offers. |

I grew up in Termoli and studied Physics at University of Pisa from 2009 to 2014. During my Master's degree studies I focused on theoretical physics and later on Lattice QCD. In particular, in my thesis work, whose title is "Quark-antiquark interactions in background magnetic fields", I studied the effect of strong magnetic fields on the heavy quark potential both under a theoretical and phenomenological point of view. Since then, I carried on the study of the QCD in non-perturbative regime by means of its lattice formulation. Besides physics, I like photography and, especially while travelling, I always carry camera and lenses in my backpack. I also enjoy reading, in particular about current events or recent history.
